Amir’s La Voûte owner and designer Amir Saebi will host a style tutorial during CO-OPhx’s Spring Swap on April 21.

As the Spring Swap is just weeks away, CO-OPhx sat down with Amir Saebi of Amir’s La Voûte to talk trends in preparation for his coveted style tutorial session during the Swap on April 21.

With his sense of style perfectly mingling modern statements and vintage finds, we spent five minutes with the local designer and boutique owner on summer style trends, his design inspiration and where he thinks Phoenix fashion is headed:

CO-OPhx: Where does your inspiration come from?

Saebi: My family and classic icons. My style is like Frank Sinatra meets Price.

(He scrolled through photos in his iPhone before finding a more than 100-year-old snapshot of his grandfather and great uncle looking dapper in suits and fancy neckwear.)

That was just how they dressed. My family has always emphasized to look your best.

CO-OPhx: What trends do you see popping up for summer? How can we incorporate them?

Saebi: Neon. Neon has been everywhere. Also, the color of the year is emerald green. Try to have on stand-out neon piece and blend it in with a great pattern. Mix and match it. Patterns with colors like red or navy are great.

CO-OPhx: How would you describe Phoenix style and where would you like to see it go?

Saebi: Laid back, but on the rise. As Phoenix is growing, it’s starting to look more like a city and the trends of a metropolitan city are coming along with it. It’s not 100 percent developed, but it’s heading toward the right direction.
